SOUTHWICK — The Planning Board got closer to finalizing a new set of bylaws related to marijuana retailers during a meeting this week, including establishing distance between retailers, schools, residential areas, and other businesses.
“I tried to take out the language related to the overlay map and instead separated out the different [marijuana-related] types of establishments and put them where I would think would be the appropriate districts in the zones,” said board member Jessica Ann Thornton, who prepared a draft of new marijuana-related bylaws.
On Tuesday, the board hosted the third in a continuing series of public hearings for amending the town’s zoning bylaws to allow recreational marijuana retailers, which was prompted by Town Meeting last May when voters approved amending town regulations for that purpose.
